Druhá kapitola analyzuje tendence ve vývoji světové ekonomiky v 50. a 60. letech 20. století, kdy docházelo k mimořádně rychlému rozvoji všech jejích částí a k liberalizaci mezinárodních ekonomických vztahů. Třetí kapitola je naproti tomu zaměřena na příčiny a charakteristiku neúspěšného vývoje v období posledních dvaceti let před rozpadem Východního bloku a koncem bipolarity.
